Teamwork makes the dream work.
I believe therapy is a collaborative process that helps guide you to where you want to be. You are the expert in your life. My role is to help families and individuals navigate through a multitude of experiences, from complex trauma to daily mental health difficulties, with respect and understanding that I am meeting you where you are in your process. Communication and connection are the beginning of how we heal from difficult and confusing experiences throughout our lifetime.
My systemic approach to therapy attends to how you show up in the world, as well as how your relationships affect you through attachment, trauma and interpersonal interactions. In addition to my formal training, my own experiences have helped me develop skills to provide genuine, supportive, and compassionate care; being authentically me helps others find space to do the same. My goal as we get to know one another and build our therapeutic relationship is to help you find suitable and sustainable skills to create the life you want and to find healing throughout this process. I work with children, adolescents, and adults to cultivate these skills.
I use a variety of approaches to create change, including interactive play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), mindfulness, solution focused therapy, integrative therapy and developmental repair. Sometimes, just making time and space to talk is important.
Therapy can be life-changing for anyone, and also, each person has their own unique cultural complexities. I believe identifying and working through racialized trauma is essential for understanding how we show up to navigate the world, and critical for our healing and development.
Showing up as our best selves starts with openness, vulnerability, and the willingness to provide acceptance towards ourselves and others.
